Have you ever wondered how an entire snap-together chair can be made from a single 4' x 8' sheet of plywood?

Thursday, November 07, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm | Mixxer Community Makerspace

How about the fact that avant-garde designers of the mid-century era used this simple material to make iconic furniture designs?

Join us at Mixxer Community Makerspace and learn the basics of using a computer-controlled router to create your own custom plywood chair. Through demos and hands-on practice, you'll learn how the design process works and see a computer-controlled router in action as it cuts out the final component for a snap-together plywood chair.

As part of the workshop, each participant will receive the parts for a scale model of the full-sized chair cut from premium plywood using Mixxer's powerful laser cutter. We'll even help you put it together (not that you'll need any help).

Tickets: $20

Adults + ages 12 to 18 with a parent or guardian.

Presented in partnership with Mixxer Community Makerspace and in conjunction with SECCA's exhibition, Furnished.

*Mixxer is located at 1375 N Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Winston-Salem, NC 27101*
