Have you wondered how an entire snap-together chair can be made from a single 4' x 8' sheet of plywood?

Thursday, November 07, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm | Mixxer Community Makerspace

How about the fact that avant-garde designers of the mid-century era used this simple material to make iconic furniture designs? Do you have any idea how easy it is today for YOU to replicate these designs?

Join us at Mixxer Community Makerspace and learn the basics of using a computer-controlled router to create your own custom plywood chair. Through demos and hands-on practice, you'll learn how the design process works and see a computer-controlled router in action as it cuts out the final component for a snap-together plywood chair.

As part of the workshop, each participant will receive the parts for a scale model of the full-sized chair cut from premium plywood using Mixxer's powerful laser cutter. We'll even help you put it together (not that you'll need any help).

Tickets: $20

Adults + ages 12 to 18 with a parent or guardian.

Presented in partnership with Mixxer Community Makerspace and in conjunction with SECCA's exhibition, Furnished.
