Please join us for the opening reception for Role Model: Beyond Beauty.

Sunday, December 10, 2017 @ 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Auditorium Lobby

In this community art show at SECCA, more than 30 portraits of inspirational Black women will be on view through Jan. 7, 2018. These portraits by Winston-Salem artist Leo Rucker, have been featured for the past 20 plus years in "Role Model: Beyond Beauty" Column Sophisticate's Black Hair Styles & Care Guides Magazine by SMSi Urban Call Marketing President Lafayette Jones.

Jones, who also lives in Winston-Salem, explains: "the column features beautiful Black women who have gone beyond the boundaries of physical beauty with achievements that impact the lives of others in significant ways. The women we will celebrate are beautiful, yes, but more importantly they are role models who not only touch our children in positive ways, but also bring joy and knowledge to us all with their special gifts."

Opening Reception and exhibit are free and open to the public through Jan. 7, 2018

Sponsors for the Opening Reception and Exhibit include: SMSi Urban Call Marketing, Beauty World, Goler Community Development Corporation, Glorious Gourmet Creations, Body and Soul, Forsyth Seafood and Downtown Thai Restaurant.

Presented by SECCA and SMSi Urban Call Marketing
